ALEG
Weekly Report - Week 33, 14 December 2001
What I've done
- The list and maintenance screens for customer, customer group, user maintenance
and IP-address-to-user mapping have been completed.
- All the images are now loaded. About 7000 images have been linked to works,
where there is only one image for a work. Because reviews were recorded
against works in the old AustLit (as part of the work record, sharing
the work's unique identifier), some of these linked images are of reviews of the
work, not the work. However, most images cannot automatically be assigned
to works with any confidence at all (because of the review issue), so they await some manual process.
The linked images are only available to the AustLit maintainers due to pending copyright
issues.
- A test backup to CD-ROM has been performed.
- Some minor changes to several functions - popup text bug fixed, Oracle keywords
correctly escaped in search terms regardless of case, awards now
displayed with their hierarchy if any. In Ben's last week, he completed
fixing problems with ambiguous place names. I also performed some mass changes to data
he identified.
This was Ben Miskin's last week on the project. He did a fantastic job
whipping the data (and the rest of us) into shape. Thanks Ben!
- The system has been stable this week.
Next Week
- Continue (and hopefully complete) implemention of customer accounting and new user
identification functions.
- More tasks from Kerry and Annette's list.
Next few weeks
- Program to help linking of full text images to works.
- Multiple creation events for a work as a mechanism for allowing date ranges
to be associated with agents responsible for works, eg editors of a periodical.
- Refining NBD Holdings searches.
- Search usage analysis.
- Combining searches
