Although ni production details have been located to date, it is believed to have been first staged in 1878, the same year that it was published by George Robertson. A footnote on the first page of that publication states that the play 'has already found some favour in the eyes of the Sydney and Tasmanian public...'. It is printed here for free production by amateur theatre groups.
