BiographyHistory

Bill Darwen was the grandson of William Henry Darwen (q.v.) who founded The Bowen Independent in 1903, and the son of Claude Darwen (q.v.) who served as printing manager of the newspaper. Following the family trade, he joined the Independent as a compositor and later became a computer typesetter, working at the newspaper for over 35 years.
