BiographyHistory

Coral Browne began her acting career in Melbourne, establishing herself with the J. C. Williamson theatre company. At the age of 21 she moved to England where she found ample work on West End stages and, less frequently, in film. Browne won the BAFTA for Best Actress in 1983 for her performance in An Englishman Abroad - a television film about the expatriate British spy Guy Burgess in which Browne played herself.

Coral Browne is the subject of a play, 'Mrs Vincent Price', written by British playwright Peter Quilter.
