Shalini Akhil is a Melbourne-based Indo-Fijian fiction writer. In 2001, she won a competition run by the Melbourne Writers' Festival in which writers were required to pitch ideas for novels to a panel of judges and a vocal audience. In 2003 she entered 'Raw Comedy', run by radio station Triple J, and went on to become a national finalist. In 2005 Shalini Akhil was completing a Graduate Diploma of Professional Writing at Deakin University.....
