BiographyHistory

Sergio Holas Véliz has been a lecturer in Spanish at the Department of French, German, Russian, Spanish and Applied Linguistics at the University of Queensland (Brisbane). More recently, he has been Senior Lecturer at the Deparment of Language Studies, Flinders University.

He migrated to Australia from Chile in May 1988 and was awarded his PhD from the University of New South Wales in 1998. His earlier academic career includes a MHL (Master in Hispanic Literature, 1988); TPEC (Título Profesor de Estado en Castellano, 1982); BA (1980), all from the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile. He has published poetry and criticism in Spanish and English in both Australian and international journals.
