BiographyHistory

Kianoo Tjeemairee belongs to the Murinbata people, or known today as the Murrinhpatha people of Arnhem Land. He lived at the Catholic Mission at Port Keats, north-western coast of the Northern Territory between the Daly and Fitzmaurice rivers. Kianoo was known to have possessed and inexhaustible knowledge of his tribal mythology. Tjeemairee's stories were recorded by Roland Robinson and T.G.H. Strehlow during the 1950s to 1960s.
