BiographyHistory

Frank Pottinger was police inspector in charge of the Lachlan goldfield, New South Wales. His endeavours to put down bushranging, particularly Gardiner's and Ben Hall's gang, made him a frequent target for bushrangers and satirists.

He died on 9th April 1865 when one of his own pistols accidentally exploded.
