BiographyHistory

Diana Gribble was co-founder, with Hilary McPhee (q.v.), of the publishing house McPhee Gribble in 1975. She was also instrumental in establishing the Text Media Group (with Eric Beecher) in 1990 and the group's publishing arm Text Publishing.

Gribble's career included a range of other roles in the arts. She was a deputy chair of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and played significant roles with the Australia Council, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Circus Oz and Crikey.com. She was also involved with Lonely Planet and Care Australia.

Mourning her death, Crikey.com wrote that Gribble 'was a creator. She inspired and indefatigably supported the people around her–family, friends, colleagues, authors, artists. She nurtured young talent and motivated old talent. She loved books, ideas, the idea of ideas and she loved being a publisher of Crikey.'
