Nothing definite has been established about this author except that she was the grand-daughter of a pioneer, her father was a doctor, and as an eight-year-old girl she wrote six short stories which were published under the name 'Miltaree', her 'native name', when she was ten.
It is conceivable that this writer was Alice Grant Rosman (b. 1882 at Kapunda in the home of her grandfather, acknowledged as a pioneer) who was writing poetry and stories at the age of eight, and having them published in newspapers. The stories by 'Miltaree' were published by the child's mother, and Alice Grant Rosman's mother, Alice M. Bowyer Rosman, herself a writer, was a great encourager of her daughter's writing.
However, while 'Miltaree' can almost certainly be identified as non-Aboriginal, the 'native name' implies contact with Indigenous people. No link has been found between Alice Grant Rosman and the Aboriginal people, and her father was an accountant, not a doctor.
