Pulgis Andriusis was born in Gaidziai in the Utena region in Lithuania and began studying fine arts, then transferred to humanities. After completing his studies he worked for various newspapers, becoming a prominent journalist and theatre critic. A skilled linguist, he was active in the Esperanto movement and worked as a translator in several languages. During the war, he fled to Germany where he resumed his journalistic activities and started writing his first book. Before his departure for Au....
