Unk White was renowned for his comical drawings which appeared in the Sydney Bulletin and many Australian newspapers throughout much of the twentieth century. He was the inaugural secretary of the Black and White Artists' Club, founded in 1924. He was also an official war artist during World War II. He published numerous collections of his cartoons and sketches, and also illustrated many books by other authors.
