BiographyHistory

Roger Therry was educated at Trinity College Dublin. He was called to both the Irish and English Bars in 1827. In New South Wales he had a distinguished career as a barrister, Attorney-General, Supreme Court Judge, and Member of the Legislative Council. He was Resident Judge at Port Phillip (then still part of New South Wales) in the years 1844-1846. Following his return to Britain, he became an advocate for Catholic emancipation in Ireland. He was knighted in 1869.
