Hugh Stretton graduated from Oxford university where he was a fellow of Balliol College 1948-55, before taking up an appointment as professor of history at the University of Adelaide. He served as deputy chairman of the SA Housing Trust 1973-89. He has been awarded an honorary D. Litt. from the ANU and an honorary LLD from Monash University. His publications include Ideas for Australian Cities (1970), Housing and Government (1974), Capitalism, Socialism and the Environment (1976) which won the A....
