In her writing, Kerry Reed-Gilbert, a Wiradjuri woman from central New South Wales, draws on the 'experience and knowledge' associated with being a member of a 'Koori extended family'. Reed-Gilbert believes that through her writing she is being 'true' to the meaning of her Totem - the White Cockatoo - which is symbolic of being a Messenger. As a committed human rights activist, Reed-Gilbert believes her writing enables her to function as that 'Messenger' and thereby provide a voice for Indigenou....
