The Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize
Aspiring poets have until 30 June, 2012, to enter for the Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize. Dawe, one of Australia's most acclaimed contemporary poets, endowed the $1500 annual award to encourage other Australian poets. The endowment is administered by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Southern Queensland, and the prize will be judged there. Dawe believed that all universities should encourage the practice of the arts within Australian society.
The winning poet will be contacted personally and details of the win announced on the Dawe prize website in October, 2012.
Entrants are encouraged to read the Conditions of Entry prior to completing the entry form.
The 2011 prize winner was Lisa A. Jacobson for her poem 'Several Ways to Fall Out of the Sky'. You can read the full text of the poem here. The site lists winners back to 1999.
