Andrea Sherwood was born of a Ukrainian father, who emigrated from Germany, and an Anglo-Celtic mother. She spent her childhood in the Upper Yarra Valley. Sherwood has a B.A. degree and a Diploma of Education from Melbourne and La Trobe Universities respectively. With some knowledge of German, she has worked as an 'emergency' teacher in Victoria, teaching English as a second language. Sherwood has been a member of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (FAW) and of the Victorian Writer's Centre. In 1991 she was awarded a grant from the Victorian Ministry of the Arts. Sherwood has acknowledged the encouragement of Phillip Mead (q.v.) who edited her first published volume of poetry. Sherwood provided editorial support for the annual, Australian Short Stories.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Andrea Goldsmith trained as a speech pathologist and spent several years working with children. From 1987, she taught creative writing at Deakin University, and her essays have appeared in The Age, Australian Book Review and Island. Goldsmith has given frequent readings of her work and in 1992 toured north-western Victoria with the National Book Council's writers' train.
Her first published novel Gracious Living (1989), was followed by Modern Interiors in 1991, which was shortlisted for the Lysbeth Cohen Award in 1992, Facing the Music (1994) and Under the Knife (1998). Her fifth novel, The Prosperous Thief (2002) spans three continents, and is an epic covering the lives of two vastly different families.
Goldsmith's published works include essays, short stories and travel writing, this last genre based on her love of travel. She has received a grant from the Australia Council and has been involved with the Victorian Writers' Centre mentorship scheme in Melbourne.
Andrea Stretton graduated from La Trobe University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts. She worked with SBS (initially in radio, but primarily in television) for over a decade and was best known for her hosting of The Book Show with Dinny O'Hearn (q.v.) Stretton worked for ABC Television from 1998 to 2001 as presenter of the Sunday Afternoon arts programme. In her final years Stretton worked in libraries and bookshops and pursued other opportunities in the arts world. She was always highly regarded for the depth and insight of her interviews with writers and arts practioners.
In 2000 Stretton was honoured by the government of France for her services in the field of the arts and literature, receiving the prestigious Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters).
Stretton was diagnosed with lung cancer in early November 2007. She died two weeks later.
A graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1981, Andrea Lemon has worked as a barmaid, stand-up comedian and artists' model, as well as working freelance as actor, writer and director with various theatre companies in Melbourne. In 1988 she was writer in residence at Toe Truck Theatre in Sydney.
Lemon was recognised with the ABC Fringe Award for Best Script for Walking on Sticks (written with Sarah Cathcart q.v.) and was nominated for an Edinburgh Fringe First Award for Best Production (The Serpent's Fall, with Sarah Cathcart) and an Awgie Award (Dead Set Straight). As writer/director for physical theatre, Lemon was appointed as the third artistic director of Melbourne's Women's Circus in 2001.
Andrea Kwast studied short story writing and creative writing, completing certificates. She pursued English and Communications at the University of New England, Armidale, Australia completing her degree in 2006. Kwast expanded her studies, qualifying as a proofreader and then a book editor, focusing on fiction manuscripts. In 2009, she founded Tell Me a Story Books where she developed tutoring workshops in English and Creative Writing. During this time, Kwast obtained a certificate in non-fiction writing. She has developed several creative writing workbooks including a workbook for Autistic kids. In 2014 she returned to study to complete a Masters of English. Andrea Baldwin undertook post-graduate studies in the English Department, University of Queensland. She holds PhDs in both psychology and creative writing.
