'The Dinny O'Hearn Prize, offered between 1992 and 2003, was made to a translator for a work translated into English in any category of literature (including theatre, radio script and screen play) which had been published, performed or made available for sale in Australia in the eligible period. A weekly magazine program about books and writing, The Book Show was initially hosted by Melbourne academic and administrator Dinny O'Hearn (1986). Journalist Andrea Stretton joined as co-presenter the following year.
