(A new blog series in which our indexers talk about what they've been doing recently.)
Joanne Sawyers, current indexing:
I love my job but some days are extra special.
Last Friday, I spent most of the day catching up on one of Australia’s most prolific children’s fiction authors, Jim Aitchinson (AKA James Lee).
I focused on the Mr Midnight series of horror stories as we had some gaps. At this time, there are 85 books, each containing two stories, as well as 11 Special Editions. The series has been translated into four languages. I have added some of the translations to 45 titles, with a few more yet to be completed. The works indexed in AustLit have a cover image and the individual story titles attached to the parent work. A summary of each story is provided as well as the translation details.
The very best part of indexing this series was locating the fabulous, bright, and expressive covers. My two favourite titles are Has Anyone Seen My Head [and] Dead on Midnight and My Invisible Friend [and] Strangled by Spaghetti.
Next on my ‘to do’ list … Mr Mystery.
