John Howard, son of Robert and Mary Howard, was educated at Belgravia High School. He married Nita Jeanette Firth in 1930 and lived in Sydney, Inverell and Delungra districts, retiring to Redcliffe, Queensland. He had been employed at Gillespie's Flour Mills, Sydney and also managed station properties and leased part of Bassandun Station.
