Overton was an English author. Although little is known of his life, it seems likely that he spent some time in Australia as many of his fictional works are set in Australia or have Australian content. Several of Overton's essays and dramatic recitations were collected together in a good number of volumes, including The Overton Reciter (1889) and The Overton Entertainer (1904).
