Alberto Avolio was born in Fagnano Castello, Italy. In addition to his native Italian he became a speaker of English, French, Dutch and Mandarin Chinese. He studied biomedical engineering at the University of New South Wales, lectured at the Biomedical Engineering Centre and was appointed Associate Professor. He became a member of the Italo-Australian Writers Association and in 1989 participated in the Concorso Internazionale di Poesia in Rome. His work was read on Radio 2EA in 1990 and he has read at the Apia Club, the Neapolitan Club, the Fogolar Furlan and at the Italian Institute of Culture, Sydney. His poetry has been published in
