BiographyHistory

'In her twenties [Joan Salter] trained as a nurse in Brisbane, and following this, moved to Melbourne. Here she has been active in the field of maternal and child welfare, working for a number of years in migrant hostels.

'Strong influences in her development were the works of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, and a study of eastern religions, especially Hinduism.

'In 1968 she spent some time in India, and it was after this, in 1969, that she began a serious study of Rudolf Steiner's thought. This enabled her to put the wisdom of the east into its true historical perspective, and to make a start towards gaining an understanding of the esoteric content of the Christian gospels.

'In 1976 she founded the Gabriel Baby Centre, a private practice in maternal and child welfare based on Rudolf Steiner's outline of man...'
