BiographyHistory

Spencer Brodney was of Jewish background and worked extensively abroad as an editor and a journalist. In 1904 he founded the Australian Theatre Society, which was renamed as The Playgoers' Club after Brodney had departed for London. It ceased to exist around 1909. Brodney's three-act play Rebel Smith was published in New York in 1925
