Margaret Visciglio is a seventh generation South Australian. One of her ancestors was Hugh Foulkes, bullock-driver for Charles Sturt, so she believes that she has wanderlust in her blood (personal correspondence). She and her husband have travelled extensively throughout Australia, including to Cape York with a geriatric Land Rover and a tent.
She was educated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College, Enfield, and attended TAFE. She has worked as secretary to a gastroenterologist/surgeon for 26 years, and prior to that she held various other jobs including nursing and being a vineyard worker. Married in 1965, she and her husband have three children.
As well as the published work listed here she has written other short stories. Her unpublished "The Cosmic Joke" won first prize in the Salisbury Library Short Story Competition 1997, and her "The Awakening of the Serpent" won first prize in the Holiday Fantasia Literary Awards 1998.
