BiographyHistory

Zissis Arapoglou was born at Kitros (ancient Pydna), in the prefecture of Pieria, Greece and completed one year of high school. From 1961 to 1964 he lived in Kitros working on tobacco farms in the summertime and as an assistant tailor in the winter. In 1965 he worked in Thessaloniki as a tailor and marble cutter.

After military service in 1967-69 he opened a terrazzo flooring business. In Australia he has worked on fishing boats and as a cleaner. He has written song lyrics as well as poetry. Individual poems have been published in Greek language newspapers such as Panellenios Kerykas, O Kosmos and the periodical Tahydromos.
