INGRAM, Anne Bower, OAM. Children's Book Editor.18.10.1937 - 26.03.2010. Close friend to Peg O'Donnell. Loved mother of Nicholas and loved mother-in-law of Lyn. Proud grandmother of Claire and Zoe. Dear sister of Michael Bower. Loved daughter of John Aubrey Bower and Mary Monaghan Bower. Close friend of Lynn and Ron Scott and James and Margaret O'Donnell. Special "Grandma Anne" to Melissa, Stephanie and Timothy. Recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to Children's Literature, 1986. It was cold and lonely beside the river when the rocket was done. Barnaby turned around - and there was Grandfather, waiting under the willows. Barnaby ran to take his hand. "Did you see it?" Barnaby cried. "Did you see the rocket!" But Grandfather only smiled; for he and Barnaby both knew that the rocket was special. So special, so unforgettable, that talking would only spoil it. ANNE'S family and friends are warmly invited to attend her Funeral Service to be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday (April 1, 2010), at St Peter's Anglican Church, Tryon Road, East Lindfield. At the conclusion of the service the cortege will proceed to Macquarie Park Cemetery, corner of Delhi and Plassey Roads, North Ryde. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the State Library of NSW Foundation, in memory of Anne. These donations will be used to purchase Australian children's literature original manuscripts, pictures and other important documents for the library's collection.
