BiographyHistory

Hugh MacDonald, M. L. A. was a sitting member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 17 Jul 1894 to the time of his death on 18 Oct 1906. He was the Member for Coonamble from 17 July 1894 to 16 July 1904 and Member for Castlereagh from 6 Aug 1904 to 18 Oct 1906.

The National Library of Australia lists three songs written by him around the time of Federation:

  • 'Ode to the Commonwealth'
  • 'The Guerdon of Love'
  • 'When the Empire Calls'.

Each of these is accompanied by the music of Alfred Hill (q.v.).
