To follow up on Le Breretons 1865 book of poems...It appears to fall within the AustLit scope (ie. contents ?largely written in Australia)...per the digitised copy on Google Books it contains the poem 'The Emigrant's Dream' which appeared in the Empire in 1862 under the initials J.L.G.B. - rt 19/7/11.

BiographyHistory

A physician and author, John Le Gay Brereton established himself as a prominent figure in Sydney after emigrating from England in 1859. Besides setting up in medical practice, he established a Turkish bath, gave public lectures on various subjects, and published several volumes of poetry in the colony. Brereton was a follower of Swedenborgianism and became a leader of the New Jerusalem church in Sydney. Much of his poetry reflects his religious beliefs. (ADB)
