Angeline O'Neill grew up in a number of country towns in New South Wales. She received an Arts degree from the University of Sydney and a Ph.D. from the University of Western Australia. She is a teacher of Comparative Indigenous Literature, Australian Literature and Aboriginal Studies at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle, Western Australia.
