Ian Warden quotes from a 1913 letter written from Chicago by Miles Franklin. In it, Franklin reveals that she has met Walter Burley Griffin at his office and seen a map of 'the land on which he was to lay out the Federal Capital'. Franklin admits to homesickness on viewing the map.
