'The "Suburban Odysse"y Exhibition May 19 - July 15 2012 is being held at the Fremantle Arts Centre, 1 Finnerty St Fremantle, Western Australia "Suburban Odyssey" comprises a number of large scale painting created by Shaun Tan in his formative years as a painter, as well as smaller recent works and illustrations, sketchbooks, and some developmental materials from, tracing the connections between his observational paintings of suburban landscapes and the other more imaginary worlds of illustrated narrative, particularly Tales from Outer Suburbia and the short film The Lost Thing. What makes this exhibition unique is that it features personal works that have almost never been previously exhibited, and which he also consider to be his most significant work as an artist.
