As one of the earliest online zines Jackhammer also explored new publishing concepts. In addition to allowing readers the opportunity to comment on and vote on the stories, the theme of each edition was based on a "Question of the Week." The zine is believed to have folded in 2000 or 2001.

    Stephen Dedman recalls that Jackhammer accepted reprints and paid him in US stamps. He further trecalls that Moon brought out a best-of-Jackhammer anthology in 2000, then disappeared [correspondence, 5 December 2011]         Bolingbrook : Eggplant Literary Publications, Inc , 1997
