AbstractHistoryArchive Description

In the winter of 2005, following the horrifying tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia, Steven Savile and Alethea Kontis joined forces to raise money to help the distressed survivors and created Elemental. They solicited unpublished Sci Fi and fantasy stories from among the leading writers in these genres today, and received immediate responses in the form of the works collected in this book. Not only have the authors agreed to forgo any payment from the publisher, but the publisher has also agreed to donate all profits from the anthology to the Save the Children Foundation. Elemental has an introduction by Arthur C. Clarke and includes over twenty stories by authors such as Brian Aldiss, David Drake, Jacqueline Carey, Martha Wells, Larry Niven, Joe Haldeman, Eric Nylund, Sherrilyn Kenyon, writing as Kinsley McGregor, and many others, along with a Dune story by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson.
