Notes

  • A poem inspired by the wreck of the immigrant ship Dunbar, which foundered at South Head, Sydney, in August 1857, with almost complete loss of life of those on board. Kendall's poem 'The Merchant Ship' was also inspired by the Dunbar disaster.
  • Note that Kendall wrote two different poems titled 'Drowned at Sea'.
