A column canvassing current literary news including a report on David Gaunt's receipt of a 2011 Australia Day award. (Gaunt was made a Member of the Order of Australia.) Susan Wyndham also notes the publication of the final hard copy issue of Heat magazine, the cessation of Western Australian journal Indigo and the changes in 'ownership' of Jacket magazine. (Following the retirement of John Tranter from his oversight role, the magazine is being hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.)
