Air - 'Drink to Me Only'
-
This poem appeared in the Empire in April 1860 with the author's name indicated as 'J. Kendall'. It is unclear whether this was due to a typographical error. Reed (1966) speculates that the poem might perhaps have been the work of Kendall's younger sister Jane, then 16 years of age. Reed also indicates that a cutting of the poem appears in Kendall's scrap-book, with a correction made in line 16. This tends to suggest that the poem was written by Henry Kendall.
