On the night of April 29, 1952, the 60 year-old artist Ian Fairweather launched his tiny makeshift raft from Darwin. Adrift is Northern Territory Writers' Centre members' response to Fairweather's 16 days adrift and an exploration of the theme of Adrift in poetry. -- Dael Allison, Editor (from the introduction)
