AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The Girl from Steel City is an Australian television series that tells the story of Stacey Maniatis, a Greek-Australian girl living in Wollongong. It was SBS Television's first continuing soap-style drama series.

The storylines focus on aspects of Stacey's family life, her friends, and her desire to have a career as a singer. The series is mostly in English, but contains some Greek dialogue with English subtitles. The second series sees Stacey move from Wollongong to Sydney to further her singing prospects. However, as the episodes unfold, she finds herself pursuing a career as an investigative journalist.
