The work was inspired by a draft for a short work called 'Arachnid' and an epic poem 'Post Mortem' written by the author after the death of his mother in 2001. In 2005 Urban Theatre Projects offered to produce the project and in the same year Berry received an Asialink residency to collaborate with Anino Shadowplay Collective in Quezon City, Phillipines. The work was creatively developed in 2006 at Urban Theatre Projects.
