A new teacher arrives in town with his pet German Shepherd. The local people assume his dog is a sheep killer and so keep their children away from school and threaten the teacher and his dog. When a child is missing his dog finds her and also kills the real sheep killer.

The Crucible of Fear, Patreb (fl. 1936) , single work short story
Pilot, Jimmy Anderson co-pilots a passenger flight from Cairns to Camooweal with Johnson, an experienced pilot. Johnson loses his nerve during a terrible storm and Anderson takes over. Problems with the wireless causes Johnson to go up the back and he gives his life to save the others when he releases a wire.
