  • Elizabeth Webby, in Early Australian Poetry: An Annotated Bibliography of Original Poems Published in Australian Newspapers, Magazines and Almanacks Before 1850, states this poem (unattributed in the Weekly Register) is by Henry Halloran. Webby bases her statement on a letter from Halloran to Henry Parkes, dated 4 September 1845, held in the Mitchell Library, New South Wales.
  • This work appeared in the Empire in 1864 with the note : 'Written during the Heki War in 1844'
