AbstractHistoryArchive Description

This article is dedicated to the critical and poetic work of Vincent Buckley. The essay takes the form of a conversation between two former students and colleagues of Buckley, and is a meditation on literature and the sacred, led by Buckley's own work in his critical volume Poetry and the Sacred, and with reference to the poetic sequence Golden Builders. 'This Special Issue of JASAL, derives from the mini-conference 'Vincent Buckley 20 Years After: Life, Work, Politics and Times'. It embraces the life, work, politics and times of Buckley. Taking its cue from the mini-conference, this Special Issue is deliberately multimodal: it reaches out to the many contexts—literary, cultural, historical, and personal—which envelop Buckley's life and work.'
