Notes

  • Editor's note: Oscar Asche is one of the few 'world's record' Australians. He wrote 'Chu Chin Chow' in a fortnight, produced it in a month, and ran it continuously for five years - beating the dramatic band not only for London performances but for terrestrial performances - excluding the Methuselah-myths of the legitimate Chinese stage. As author, actor, manager - the grand combination - he stands in the first rank of the British theatrical profession. For himself and his country, in his own most popular way, he has made good and in some aspects better and in one spectacular drama best.
