short story
A woman's husband is missing following a devastating bushfire. Her two sons hope that their alcoholic father will never return and that their mother will come to live with them elsewhere. However, the woman cannot forget the first happy months of her marriage. When her husband does return after a couple of days, he is a broken man about to commit suicide. The woman prevents him from doing so and is deeply pleased to experience a week of marital harmony before her husband dies.
