  • Author's note: Brolgas, which are found on the northern plains of Australia, are elegant, silver-grey birds almost as tall as humans. They dance beautifully on their long legs: leaping, stepping high and bowing to each other. There is an Aboriginal legend from that area which tells us how this bird came to be and how it got its name.
