'When a small girl, Little Pumpkin, moves with her family from Shanghai to Australia her cousin Betty is assigned to look after her at school. However, Betty resents having to perform this task so translates everything as nonsense. Little Pumpkin worries that she will never learn. When the teacher confiscates the tiny embroidered bag that Nai Nai (grandmother) has given her for good luck Little Pumpkin is reduced to tears of despair. Fortunately, another Chinese girl offers to translate for Little Pumpkin and assures her that she will be soon speaking English.' (Source: Author's blog)
