Notes

  • One of a number of articles involving bushwalks and walking tours which Vance Palmer wrote for the Brisbane press, during the period he and Nettie Palmer were living on the Sunshine Coast in the mid 1920s. In this second article on his 'tramp' in the Blackall Range, Palmer describes the section between Flaxton and Mapleton. Notably, whilst Palmer generally admires the way in which the district has been opened for small farming, he also expresses concern at the clearing of timber and the destruction of the original vegetation which has occurred in the process.
