'Australia is a forty-five minute, satirical, documentary play about some aspects of Australia's history, centred mainly on the country's origins and social composition, making use of many traditional songs.' Popular Theatre Troupe Report, 1979, p.3. 'Based on Manning Clarke's Short History, 'Australia' was basically a satirical overview, looking at Australian history from a class perspective.' Production Details

  • First produced by the Popular Theatre Troupe at an Ipswich Boys boarding school on the 4th April 1979 in Brisbane, then toured to North Queensland.
