Mars is a sixteen-year-old Italo-Australian girl growing up in rural Australia in a conservative Catholic family. The film is about her struggle to pursue her sense of self in an often violent environment and about the love/hate relationship she has with her mother. The relationship goes through a powerful and emotional evolution during the film.
